Together with the well-known Wageningen University on Agriculture, supported by the Dutch Agricultural Branch Organization, AHT-Netherlands has conducted tests in a greenhouse using the AHT infra red heating ribbons. The tests were done at a greenhouse in the Haarlemmermeer polder, the heart of agricultural sector in Holland near the word famous flower auction. As an alternative for the traditional heating system (hot water pipes heated by burning fossil gas) AHT heating mats were placed on growing tables directly under the plants, creating a fully controlled heating comfort for the plants. The energy use was measured as well as the performance of the plants. First results show a happy farmer because of at least 30 % energy savings. Further tests will be done, expecting to lower the use of energy even more.
